Week 14: Beskermer van Israel
One of my favourite verses in the Bible is Ps 121:4 that says “Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep”. This verse has calmed my racing thoughts many times assuring me that God is in control. So many times over the past year we’ve been bombarded with scary news and I’ve felt overwhelmed many times, but time and time again God has reminded me that He is not sleeping and is still in control. This gives me immense hope.
I wrote the verse and chorus a few weeks ago and just didn’t get around to recording the idea. This week I completed the song and also managed to record it after many repeats. It’s a very simple recording, but (hopefully) gives the idea of the type of arrangement I’m thinking of in my head. Now just imagine Stu Gerrard playing the riff and you’ll get it 🙂
Beskermer van Israel
Hoor hoe klop my hart
Soos ‘n keteldrom weergalm in ‘n grot
Met elke nuus aanslag
Haal ek vlakker asem deur my mond
Chorus
Beskermer van Israel, ek weet U ken my bang
U sluimer en U slaap nie die hele donker nag
Beskermer van Israel, kom vat ook nou my hand
Sit by my tot in droomland en hou die wêreld vas
Verse 2
Hoor die afgrond roep
My gedagtes draai al nader aan die kant
Ek strek en gryp U hand
lei my paaie altyd terug na hoop
Repeat chorus
Bridge
As ek my oë lig na U
sal U my wys wat U hier sien?
Kom stuur U drome in die nag
laat weer U lig hier kom deurbreek
